MOVEMENT!!

After nearly 2 months since the pad has been done, there is finally lots of movement going on this week at the house!!

The concrete crew showed up on Tuesday, and will finish the trenching and setting the forms, hopefully tomorrow.  The plumber is set to come early next week, like Monday.

Look at all those vehicles!! Makes me happy!!

Checking out the progress! I never knew what trenching or setting forms was, but I think it's when they make a big trench where the walls will be.  Pretty obvious!!

Final Brick Decision

Last week Jason and I made a flying fast trip to Dallas to check out some houses with a brick I was interested in through a company in Dallas called Metro Brick.

We left at 7am and got back at 7pm!  We looked at about 10 or 11 houses will the 2 options of brick I liked in the North Dallas area.

Both bricks are a custom blend by that company meaning, they use 50% of used/antique brick and 50% of new/manufactured brick.  When they lay the brick, they do a heavy smear of mortar over the bricks, making them look a little more antique. I like that A LOT, which is probably why I like their brick.

They have 2 choices: a red blend and a buff blend.  I have to say I LOVED the red blend, but I have always been scared of red brick. But, when you put the mortar over it, it doesn't look as red, but Jason doesn't care, but he did say he didn't like as heavy mortar spread over.

On the way home, we both just went back and forth between the two. We have decided to use the buff blend of bricks.  It looks like this.

The reason we are going with Buff with mortar smeared over is because I like this brick with rock combination in the photo below.

This is the Buff Blend on a house. What do you think? Does it look like the picture above?? Does it look like something I will like forever? I hope so!! :)
